GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST
MAIN TEXT: Luke 2:10-11 “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord”
Luke 2:13-14 “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.’
Christmas is meant to be, first and foremost, a celebration of our Savior’s birth. So amid the busyness, we as believers need to take time to savor the amazing gift God gave us all those ages ago. When we had no saving plans, God brought His plan to us and saved us from all.
Although for some people, Mary was at best a liar with her tales of being pregnant by the Holy Spirit and at worse a fallen woman, either way she had brought shame to her family. Joseph may have stood by her, but not without talk and scandal: had he slept with his betrothed or was he a cuckold? So the customary community celebration and singing which usually greeted the birth of a boy did not happen outside the place where Jesus was born… But then the angels sang and all heaven rejoiced at the birth of this baby: “Hark the herald-angels sing, Glory to the new-born King.”
Here’s the good news and the reason for the celebration; When God is glorified by man’s willing worship and obedience, then there is peace on earth. True and lasting peace comes from the experience of the favor of God to save us for himself, reconciling us to himself and one another by the sacrifice of his beloved Son. The birth of Jesus Christ brought the best Blessings to us.
GOD GAVE US HIS PLAN AND IT WORKED FOR US
PRAYER: Lord God, we come before you, bowing down our hearts and laying our praises at your feet. You are the Almighty, worthy of all we could ever give You, and more. Let your glory be exalted in my life
