TOPIC: STANDING FIRM AGAINST EVERY WIND PART 1
MAIN TEXT: 1 John 2:3-5
Introduction:
Christian steadfastness remains one of the most important attributes to possess in order to win till the end. Remember that, we live in an unredeemed and fallen world, marked by sin and suffering, a world that is still waiting for judgment and new creation. We will consider two opposing characters to being a steadfast Christian.
1) PREFERRING THE WISDOM OF MEN TO GOD’S WISDOM: Colossians 2:7-8, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, Jeremiah 10:23, Acts 20:29-30
The dangers of depending upon human wisdom for guidance!! The 1st Corinthian letter gives a vivid contrast between the “wisdom of men” and the “wisdom of God.” It shows that man’s wisdom led him away from the true God and showed the foolishness of his so called wisdom (1:21).
But through God’s revealed wisdom in the preaching of the gospel, man can come to know the true and living God (1:24). It is God’s desire that our faith should stand in the “wisdom of God” rather than in the “wisdom of men” (2:4-7). Matthew 7:15. Every Bible contradictory cultures and traditions should not be encouraged among Christian believers.
